Imagine waking up, after a long and cold winter, and looking out over a 200 meter wide beach, blue sky and a magical horizon. Enjoy your breakfast and sip your coffee before you stroll down to the beach - where the morning training awaits you with your coach, your new friends from the training group and the stadium's 32 courts. In the afternoon you can play tournaments, workout at the gym, do a bit of yoga, surf, go to a pool party or just chill in one of our hammocks while waiting for the sunset.

Consisting of nearly two kilometres of sand punctuated by jagged rock formations rising from the sea and backed by steep limestone cliffs, Praia da Rocha in Algarve is an exceptionally beautiful beach. In fact, six of the last seven years, the Algarve has won the award for Europe's best beaches at the World Travel Awards - and we understand why!
Welcome to start your outdoor season of 2024 with us. Our well-trained coaches will teach you lots of beach volleyball and you are equally welcome whether you are playing for the first time or if you live and breathe beach volleyball. Around 3100 players from 25 countries have travelled over the years to Praia da Rocha and we can promise you a unique beach volleyball experience as well as friends and memories for life!

Practical Info
ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE DATES
Date of arrival is 4. May 2024 and date of departure is 11. May 2024 for the camp. The courts and balls are available during these days.
At 5pm the 4th of May a social "Welcome to Praia da Rocha" tournament will be held for those who have arrived. This is a great way to get to know the other participants. 6pm to 9pm the BeachTravels team will be at the courts to welcome participants and answer potential question. The first official training starts the morning of 5. May 2024

ACCOMODATION
Discount codes for accommodation will be provided to the participants of the training camp.
We strongly recommend 5 star Hotel Algarve Casino which is located only 70 meter walking from the beach and the courts. The hotel stay include a healthy breakfast and dinner buffet. Price from 378€ per person for room and 2 meals a day. (Price not confirmed)
You also have the option to stay at more modest apartments for 2-4 people, 15 minutes walk from the courts. Discount codes are provided by us after the booking. Price from 140€ per person for a 7 day stay. (Price not confirmed)

GETTING THERE
You book your own trip to Praia da Rocha. The closest airport to Praia da Rocha is located in the Algarve capital city of Faro. Faro airport is situated 70 km from our arena. For Norwegian travellers, both SAS and Norwegian fly to Faro from Oslo.
​
We will provide information on how to easily make your way from the airport to Pradia da Rocha by shuttle, taxi or public transportation.
​
Another option is to fly to Lisbon which is roughly 2.5h by car from Praia da Rocha.
Explore the area
As you book your own travel and accommodation, feel free to extend your stay and go exploring the area on your own. Here are a few suggestions.
​
For a great view of Praia da Rocha, climb up to the Forte de Santa Catarina, a fortress dating back to the 1600s. It is accessible by a staircase in the cliffs and makes for a nice historical escape from the crowds down below.
​
Praia da Rocha has a lively bar and club scene, especially along the main street, Avenida Tomás Cabreira. Whether you prefer a more low-key venue or an all-night party, you are sure to find the perfect spot. It’s easy to walk everywhere in Praia da Rocha so exploring the different bars and pubs in the area is a cinch.

From Portimao and other nearby towns, you can take a boat trip to several different areas along the Algarve coast to explore the stunning cliff formations and sea caves the region is known for. Among the possible tours is a boat ride through Benagil Cave in Lagoa, one of the most-visited attractions in the region, and the nearby Praia da Marinha.

Although Praia da Rocha is technically located in the municipality of Portimao, it could not be more different. Portimao is a residential city and as such is not as touristy. It makes for a great afternoon of shopping and relaxing at the harbor. Portimao is incredibly close, only 2km from Praia da Rocha, and is therefore perfect for a short day trip if you're looking for a break from the beach and resorts.
Also worth a visit is the Museu de Portimao, a small museum covering both Portimao's and the surrounding area's tradition of fishing and canning sardines. Portimao can easily be combined with a trip to Alvor, another quaint resort and fishing village on the Algarve coastline with a beautiful beach.

The neighboring town of Lagos contains some of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve. Be sure to visit Ponta da Piedade, another extraordinary rock formation that includes impressive cliffs and arches. For a fun family activity, you can visit the Lagos Zoo, which is open year-round.
